Lahore: Suspected suicide blast kills 16

Lahore, Feb 13 (IBNS): A suspected suicide bomnbing in Pakistan's Lahore city on Monday has left at least 16 people dead, media reports said.

The attack occurred close to the Punjab Assembly.

The injured people have been shifted to various hospitals for treatment, media reports said.

The deceased reportedly include senior police officers.

"The incident occurred as hundreds of chemists protested a new law near the Punjab provincial assembly building, Rana Sanaullah, the provincial law minister confirmed," Geo News reported.

Security has been hightened in other parts of the country, reports said.

Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa  has condemned the attack.

Pakistani politician Imran Khan tweeted: "Shocked & saddened by the blast in Lahore. My prayers go to the families of the victims and for speedy recovery of the injured."
