Karima Baloch death: Canada's South Asian civil society coalition demands fair probe

Toronto:  A coalition of South Asian civil society in Canada has condemned the mysterious death of activist Karima Baloch in her Toronto residence.

The coalition even demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.

Condemning the death, a joint statement has been issued by Baloch National Movement, Balochistan National Party-Canada, World Sindhi Congress-Canada, Pashtun Council Canada and PTM Committee Canada We, Baloch National Movement, Balochistan National Party-Canada, World Sindhi Congress-Canada, Pashtun Council Canada and PTM Committee Canada.

"We condemn the murder of Karima Baloch and demand thorough and transparent investigation in her murder. The culprits should be exposed and brought to justice as per the laws of Canada," read the statement.

Renowned activist Karima Baloch, who was vocal about Pakistan Army and government atrocities in Balochistan, has been found dead in Canada's Toronto city.

She was a refugee in Canada.

Karima Baloch, a Canadian refugee named by the BBC as one of the world’s 100 most “inspirational and influential” women in 2016, was last seen on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at approximately 3 p.m, reports The Balochistan Post.

She had gone missing since Sunday.

Karima had raised the issue of Balochistan in United Nations sessions in Switzerland.
