Dhaka, Jan 19 (IBNS): The Bangladesh government has blocked three instant messaging and VoIP applications in the country on Monday, media reports said.

The move was made due to security reasons, reports said.

"Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) ordered the International Internet Gateway (IIG) on Monday to shut WhatsApp, mypeople and Line," bdnews24.com reported.

The country had blocked popular messaging applications Viber and Tango on Sunday.

BTRC Secretary Md Sarwar Alam told bdnews24.com: "We've asked for temporarily blocking these applications at the home ministry's request."
