Bangladesh: Oil tanker explosion on Sugandha River leaves one person dead

Dhaka: An oil tanker explosion on Sugandha River in Bangladesh left at least one person dead, media reports said.

Seven other members of the vessel were hurt in the mishap.

The incident occurred around 8:30 am on Friday while the vessel was anchored at Pouro Kheyaghat jetty, according to Jhalakathi Fire Service Station chief Md Shahidul Islam, reports bdnews24.

The deceased person was identified as Kamrul Islam.

The explosion took place when the tanker's pump room was being emptied of octane, Shahidul  was quoted as saying by bdnews24.
