London:  The Central Spokesperson of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) has said the group's delegation recently met the former chairman of the Conservative party in the UK and current state minister for Transportation Grant Shapps and briefed him about the ongoing genocide and oppression in Balochistan.

The BNM UK zone leaders met the British politician under the supervision of their President Hakeem Baloch.

Niaz Zehri, the general secretary of the BNM UK zone, and Shahzad Baloch of BNM UK were also present in the meeting, reports ANI.

The spokesperson told ANI that the delegation informed Grant Shapps, about the historical event of Balochistan's occupation and Pakistan's continuous genocide in Balochistan.

Grant Shapps raised grave concerns over the human rights violations in Balochistan and said that even in this age such genocides are being carried out and the silence of the world regarding such issues is worrying and unexpected, reports the news agency.

Grant Shapps assured that he will write to his foreign secretary regarding this issue and urge him to ask Pakistan about the human rights violations in Balochistan.

BNM tweeted: "A delegation of BNM headed by @HakeemWadhela today met Grant Shapps -
@grantshapps, UK Secretary of State, and briefed him about the occupation of Balochistan and the gross human rights violations perpetrated by Pakistani state forces in Balochistan."
