Kabul: Hundreds of people in Annaba district of Afghanistan's Panjshir province came out on the street on Sunday over the killing of  a young man whom they claimed to be shot dead by the Taliban affiliates, media reports said.

The protesters carried the dead body to the office of the provincial governor and asked for justice, reports Khaama Press.

The protesters were seen shouting “Death to Taliban”, “Death to stooges of Pakistan”, and “Long live Ahmad Masoud”, slogans.

Residents of Annaba district claimed that the 24-year-old victim, Nazir Aqa, was killed by the Taliban affiliates but the motive behind the murder is yet to be unveiled, the news agency reported.

The provincial government described the incident as a "misunderstanding".

Panjshir was the last Afghan province which was captured by the Taliban.
