Kabul: Unknown gunmen attacked and wounded former member of parliament from Kapisa province Abdul Hadi Safi in Kabul city as he was returning from a mosque following Friday prayers.

Safi’s family told Tolo News they do not have animosity toward anyone and called on the Islamic Emirate to identify and punish the perpetrators.

Abdul Basir Safi, the eldest son of Abdul Hadi Safi, told the news portal that his father was returning home from Friday’s prayers in Kabul’s fourth PD when he was shot by unknown gunmen on motorcycles.

“The Islamic Emirate should make it clear whether they did it or someone else,” said Abdul Basir Safi, Safi’s son.

“The person who did this, whoever he was, if he is not punished, it will not be good for the Islamic Emirate,” said Abdul Ghafar Safi, Safi’s brother.

Afghanistan government officials said they are trying to detain those behind the attack.

“The case is under investigation and the security forces are trying to arrest the perpetrators,” General Mobin Khan, spokesman for the Kabul security department told Tolo News.
