New Delhi, Feb 17 (IBNS): India's fastest train Vande Bharat Express commenced its first commercial journey on Sunday.

It left New Delhi for Varanasi on Sunday morning.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said tickets of the train for the next two weeks have been sold out.

"Vande Bharat Express left Delhi for Varanasi today morning on its first commercial run. Tickets sold out for the next two weeks already. Get yours today!," the Minister tweeted.

The train, however, suffered major trouble on its first journey.

It could not complete its full run as it broke down near the Tundla junction in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, media reports said.

The train was flagged off on Friday by PM Narendra Modi.
