New Delhi: Air India is offering students a flat 10 per cent discount on domestic base fares for eligible bookings made until October 20, the airline said.

The limited-period offer applies to one-way and round-trip bookings, subject to fare conditions, and is aimed at students travelling for admissions, internships, campus placements or semester breaks, according to the airline.

How to book

Students can book through Air India’s website or mobile app. The airline said travellers should enter their origin, destination and travel dates, select "Student" under "Concession Type," choose from the eligible student fares shown and review the fare conditions before paying. Bookings must be completed by October 20 to get the discount.

Customers who book directly and are logged in get a 50 per cent reduction in convenience fees, Air India said. Eligible domestic bookings paid for by UPI can also qualify for an additional discount of up to Rs 1,000 per passenger using the promo code UPIPROMO, subject to terms and conditions.

Who is eligible

For domestic travel, students must be at least 12 years old on the date of travel and enrolled in a full-time course lasting at least one academic year.

They must study at an institution that is recognised, aided by or affiliated with a central or state government, an educational board or a university, or at an accredited school, college or university.

Students must carry supporting documents for verification at check-in, such as a student identity card, an acceptance letter from their institution or a valid student visa, as applicable.

Air India said travellers who cannot produce the documents may be charged a misuse recovery amount plus applicable taxes.

Year-round programme continues

The discount builds on Air India’s existing student programme, which the airline said gives eligible travellers up to 10 per cent off domestic and international fares, an extra 10 kg of baggage allowance and one free date change on eligible bookings.

Those benefits continue after the promotional window closes, subject to terms and conditions, the airline said.

The carrier said its network connects students with education hubs across India and in North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
