Lufthansa reveals new Oktoberfest uniforms — See what’s changed
For Oktoberfest 2026, Lufthansa's traditional costume crews will take to the skies in a new look, the airline has announced.
The new collection was designed by Lower Bavarian traditional fashion manufacturer Spieth & Wensky and combines Bavarian heritage with elements of Lufthansa's signature design.
The crane from Lufthansa's brand logo, for instance, features on the buttons of the knitwear worn by both female and male crew members. The airline's distinctive "Wing Pattern" has also been incorporated into the skirts and waistcoats.
"For 20 years, our long-haul crews have swapped their uniforms for Bavarian traditional costume during Oktoberfest season. The first traditional costume crew departed on September 1, 2006, from Munich to New York," said Heiko Reitz, Divisional Board Member of Lufthansa Airlines and Hub Manager Munich.
"With the current, modern design, we are continuing the long-standing tradition of traditional costume flights from Munich. The details speak for themselves: this costume was created exclusively for Lufthansa's cabin crews and is truly one of a kind," he added.
Premiere on Flights to Beijing, Bengaluru and Singapore
The new traditional costume will make its airborne debut at the start of Oktoberfest on September 19.
From Munich, the traditional costume crew will operate two international flights — LH764 to Bengaluru, India, and LH722 to Beijing, China.
A week later, on September 27, flight LH768 will bring the Wiesn atmosphere to Singapore.
Bavarian Delicacies On Board and in Lufthansa Lounges
The Oktoberfest celebrations will extend beyond the three traditional costume flights.
From September 1 to 30, Lufthansa will serve Bavarian cuisine on selected intercontinental flights departing from Munich and Frankfurt.
Passengers across all travel classes will be offered a specially curated Oktoberfest menu.
The selection will include traditional starters such as white sausage terrine and a pretzel tree, hearty festival favourites including Wiesn roast duck and fried chicken, and desserts such as apple strudel.
Passengers on continental routes will also be able to enjoy the Oktoberfest experience. In Business Class, Lufthansa will serve a special Oktoberfest menu from September 17 to October 6.
Lufthansa's lounges across Germany will also mark the opening of Oktoberfest with the traditional "O'zapft is" celebration. Guests can enjoy Bavarian beers, classic regional dishes and festival-themed décor.
The airline's popular Wiesn amenity kits will also return with new designs for Oktoberfest 2026.
Until the end of September, passengers travelling in First, Business and Premium Economy Class on all long-haul flights departing Germany will receive hygiene and travel essentials in modern felt pouches that can also be used as stylish Oktoberfest accessories.
