Southern Railway requires EMU train passengers to be inoculated

| @home | Jan 09, 2022, at 12:22 am

Chennai/UNI: Southern Railway has made it compulsory for passengers to be fully inoculated before travelling in suburban Electric Multiple (EMU) trains with effect from Jan.10.

Fines of Rs 500 for not wearing face masks will also be imposed and these new restrictions would be in force till Jan. 31, said the Southern Railway.

Given the surge in the covid cases, the state government has imposed several restrictions following Jan. 6.

In line with this, suburban train services would operate with 50 per cent seating capacity.

The passengers would be required to produce the second dose vaccination certificate for the issue of journey/season tickets at the counters along with their valid ID proofs.

For passengers already possessing season tickets issued prior to today, they should compulsorily carry the second dose vaccination certificate along with their valid id proofs and produce the same on demand by the ticket checking staff.

Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) on mobile app service will not be available in order to comply with the above from Jan.4 - Jan. 31.
