New Delhi, Aug 14 (IBNS): With Independence Day just around the corner, travel enthusiasts are all set to explore India during this year’s break with their loved ones.

According to a recent survey by OYO – South Asia’s largest hotel chain – this year’s Independence season has witnessed an 85% growth in bookings by solo travellers.

Also, Goa has emerged as the top destination for the Independence Day 2018 break. Places such as Goa, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata have topped the list of most-preferred destinations among travellers.

Goa emerged as the top destination among both solo and group travellers as it replaced Delhi which was 2017’s top destination. OYO further witnessed a 54% surge in bookings in comparison to 2017 with solo travellers contributing to a larger share followed by bookings made by those travelling with their friends and family.  Burhanuddin Pithawala, VP Conversions – OYO said: “The trend of mid-year vacations is clearly visible among domestic travellers this year with new international destinations like Kuala Lumpur gaining favor. With OYO’s strong presence in India, China, Malaysia and Nepal, we’ve made travel simplified and hassle-free for all. There’s visible enthusiasm among travellers for mid-year trips and to boost this market we have a special offer ‘Right to Space Sale’ for travellers planning their trip this season. Symbolizing the 72nd year of Independence, we have rooms starting at Rs720.”

As part of its ‘Right to Space Sale’, OYO has announced a special offer with rooms starting at Rs720, along with Paytm and Airtel payments bank cashbacks, for the period between 12 and 15 August 2018.
