India plans $5 billion incentive scheme to boost local electronics manufacturing

New Delhi: India is set to introduce an incentive program worth up to $5 billion to encourage domestic manufacturing of components for gadgets such as mobile phones and laptops, media reports said.

Bengaluru: Taiwan-headquartered electronics firm Wistron (ICT Service Management Solutions) and the Karnataka government inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to set up a laptop manufacturing unit that may bolster job creation in the state, media reports said.

34 electronic components manufacturing proposals approved till march: Centre
