Kolkata: Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur, earns NAAC A+ grade amidst platinum jubilee celebrations
State-government aided Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur, recently earned an A+ Grade accreditation from NAAC, awarded with a commendable CGPA of 3.28.
This honour comes at a time of special significance as the college is celebrating its Platinum Jubilee year.
The college was originally established on August 21, 1950. It was once known as Barisha College.
The recent NAAC Peer Team visit on January 13 and 14, initially conferred an A Grade.
"However, following rigorous DVV clarification and online re-evaluation, the score was rightfully upgraded to A+ on 18th July 2025 — a moment of immense pride for the entire college fraternity," the college said in a statement.
The college is offering 23 undergraduate and 4 postgraduate programs across the disciplines of Science, Humanities, and Commerce.
Affiliated with the University of Calcutta, the college is further strengthened by a proactive Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) established in 2009.
