Mumbai: Indian Test and ODI skipper Virat Kohli on Friday paid tributes to AB de Villiers as he announced retirement from all forms of cricket and described the South African as the 'most inspirational person' he has ever met.

"To the best player of our times and the most inspirational person I've met, you can be very proud of what you've done and what you've given to RCB my brother. Our bond is beyond the game and will always be," Kohli tweeted.

AB and Kohli played for the RCB in IPL for several seasons together.

AB de Villiers, who has been playing T20 league cricket across the world for several years now, announced his retirement from all forms of the game on Friday.

Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore announced his decision and tweeted: "Announcement @ABdeVilliers17 retires from all cricket End of an era! There’s nobody like you, AB. We’ll miss you dearly at RCB. For all that you’ve done and given to the team, to the fans, and to cricket lovers in general, #ThankYouAB Happy retirement, legend."

The cricketer said he is going to be an RCBian for life.

"I’m going to be an RCBian for life. Every single person in the RCB set-up has become family to me. People come & go, but the spirit & the love we have for each other at RCB will always remain. I’ve become half Indian now & I’m proud of that," he said as quoted by RCB Twitter post.
