New Delhi/Mumbai: Looking back at a memorable run chase in the 2016 T20 World Cup with a tweet, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli sparked a retirement speculation of his predecessor Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday.

Kohli on Thursday morning posted on Twitter a picture where he is seen with Dhoni after beating Australia in the quarterfinals of the 2016 T20 World Cup.

"A game I can never forget. Special night. This man, made me run like in a fitness test @msdhoni " the skipper said in the tweet.

One user tweeted, " MS Dhoni today eve retirement announcement?? Black day!!"

"#Dhoni retiring from all forms of international cricket today??" Mani Chikkam said.

One Arbaz Khan tweeted, "If today madhoni retirement then also my retirement from cricket."

"#Dhoni retiring from all forms of international cricket today??" another user said.

Dhoni, 38, was severely criticised for his slow batting and inability to accelerate in the 2019 World Cup.

After returning to India, he took a break and went for the military training in Jammu and Kashmir.

The former skipper has also not been picked for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa.
