US Open: Rohan, Leander crash out, Sania advances

New York, Sept 3 (IBNS): Indian Tennis star Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna moved out of the double's competition of the US Open after they lost their respective matches .

Despite giving a tough fight, Leander and his partner Andre Begemann lost to Stephane Robert of France and Dudi Sela of Israel 6-2, 5-7, 4-6.

In the other match, Rohan Bopanna and Frederik Nielsen  were defeated by American Brian Baker and New Zealand’s Marcus Daniell 2-6, 6-7 (5) to crash out of the grand slam.

Indian women Tennis star Sania Mirza, however, won her mixed doubles encounter as she paired up with Croatian partner Ivan Dodig  to beat unseeded Americans Taylor Townsend and Donald Young 6-4, 6-4.
