Unfair decision: Shoaib Akhtar tweets as Babar Azam not awarded 'Player Of The Tournament' title

Islamabad: Former Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar said it was an 'unfair decision' taken by not awarding the 'Player Of The Tournament' title to Babar Azam despite scoring highest runs in the T20 World Cup.

Australian opener David Warner was given the award.

He scored 289 runs in seven matches he played in the tournament.

Babar, who played one match less than David, scored 303 runs with his willow.

"Was really looking forward to see @babarazam258 becoming Man of the Tournament. Unfair decision for sure," Akhtar tweeted.

Pakistan lost their semi-final clash against Australia last week.

Australia then went ahead and defeated New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday night to win the T20 World Cup title for the first time since the tournament started in 2007.
