T20 World Cup: New Zealand beat Namibia by 52 runs, one win away from reaching semis
Sharjah: New Zealand registered a 52 runs victory against Namibia in a World T20 Group stage match to keep their chances to qualify to the next round alive here on Friday.
After scoring 163 runs for the loss of four wickets, Kiwi restricted the African squad to 111 for the loss of seven wickets in their quota of 20 overs.
Glenn Phillips (39*) and James Neesham (35*) played two significant knocks which helped New Zealand post over 160 runs on the scorecard.
Glenn remained the top scorer for the side.
He hit one boundary and six in the knock.
Namibian bowlers Bernard Scholtz, David Wiese and skipper Gerhard Erasmus salped one wicket each.
In response, Kiwi bowlers kept it tight for Namibia to score freely in the match.
Tim Southee and Trent Boult picked up two wickets each for New Zealand.
Mitchell Santner, James Neesham and Ish Sodhi picked a wicket each.
Michael van Lingen remained the top scorer for Namibia with his 25-run-knock.
