T20 World Cup: Bangladesh defeat spirited Oman by 26 runs, keep hope to reach Super 12 alive

Al Amerat/IBNS: After losing out to ScotlandBangladesh managed to register a win over spirited Oman by 26 runs in the Group B match of T20 World Cup here Tuesday, keeping their hopes to reach the next stage of the tournament alive.

Riding on Mohammad Naim's 64 off 50 balls and Shakib al Hasan's 42 off 29 balls, Bangladesh could post a total of 153 losing all wickets in 20 overs.

Apart from Naim and Shakib, all batsmen excluding skipper Mahmudullah failed to touch double digits in face of Oman's bowling.

Bilal Khan and Fayyaz Butt, who picked three wickets each, had the best bowling figures for the co-hosts.

Chasing the target of 154, Oman lost wickets back to back in the middle overs to score 127/9 in 20 overs.

Jatinder Singh was the top scorer for Oman with his 40-run innings.

Bangladesh's premier pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman picked four wickets for 36 while Shakib clinched three, leaving the rest for Mohammad Saifuddin and Mahedi Hasan.

Bangladesh and Oman now have one win each and both will be fighting to reach the Super 12 stage where Scotland have already reserved a berth.
