New Delhi, Apr 15 (IBNS): Former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar wished country's badminton stars PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal for playing in the final of the Commonwealth Games and said they set a 'perfect example' for budding players.

"Two of India's daughters fought it out in the #GC2018Badminton final for a Gold Medal. Extremely proud of you both. Setting a perfect example for budding players. Congratulations, @NSaina on emerging victorious and well fought, @Pvsindhu1.#GC2018," he tweeted.

In a high voltage match, Saina Nehwal defeated higher ranking PV Sindhu and clinched the gold medal in the women's singles category at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday.

Saina won 21-18 23-21 in the high-pressure match.

Sindhu has bagged the silver medal.

Sunday's win is important for Saina as she was replaced by Sindhu as India's 'Badminton Queen' after the latter's performance at Rio Olympics 2016.
