Perth, July 21 (IBNS): Swiss Tennis star Roger Federer will participate in the Hopman Cup next year.

The seventeen-time Grand Slam champion will be returning to Western Australia for the first time in 15 years.

“I think it will be a perfect tournament for me to start the season,” Federer was quoted as saying by Hopman Cup website.

“I like to play in new places… It’s always really exciting, so I can’t wait," he said.

The Tennis star is all set to partner world No.16 Belinda Bencic as they will  represent Switzerland at the ITF’s official mixed team competition at Perth Arena from Jan 1 to 7.

Federer had paired up with Martina Hingis in 2001 to clinch the tournament.

He had also participated in the tournament with Miroslava Vavrinec in 2002.
