Rio Olympics: From Prez to Bollywood, celebrities unite to hail Sakshi and Sindhu

New Delhi, Aug 18 (IBNS): Indian shuttler PV Sindhu stormed into the finals of the badminton championships of the ongoing Rio Olympics, setting Twitter ablaze.

From President Pranab Mukherjee to Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Sindhu's on court dominance was hailed by all. 

President Mukherjee tweeted, "Hearty congratulations #PVSindhu, well played, all the best for the finals."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Superb performance @PvSindhu1. You make India proud! Best of luck for the finals. #Rio2016."

"We are proud of you. Praying for your Gold. @Pvsindhu1," India's External Minister Sushma Swaraj said.

"Congratulations to @Pvsindhu1 for securing another medal for #Ind Two of India's daughters stole the show today at #Rio2016 . Go for Gold!" Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu said.

"Congrats to @Pvsindhu1 for her spectacular victory today. Best wishes for the finals at #Rio2016," India's Defence Minister Mahohar Parrikar tweeted.

"Two daughters of India- #PVSindhu & #SakshiMalik have brought glory to #India on the occasion of #RakshaBandhan," Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

"Whole country is proud of its daughters .on auspicious occasion of #rakshabandhan Sakshi Malik n @Pvsindhu1," Union Statistics and Programme Implementation Minister Sadananda Gowda tweeted.

Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi was quoted by the official Twitter handle of her party as saying, "Smt. Sonia Gandhi has congratulated PV Sindhu for her inspiring victory today & entering the Badminton finals in Rio."

"Showering accolades on her for the amazing performance, Mrs. Gandhi said PV Sindhu has made the entire Nation proud by her spirited game," the party said.

"Smt. Gandhi also congratulated coach, Gopichand, Sindhu's parents and all well-wishers," it added.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said, "Congratulations #PVSindhu!What a fantastic win to take India to the badminton finals at #Rio2016! All the best!"

Showing his support towards Sindhu, Bollywood biggie Amitabh Bachchan said, "#PVSindhu ...aapne 'bolne walon' ki bolti bund kar di .. karm bolta hai aur wo kabhi kabhi 'kalam' ko bhi hara deta hai ! BADHAI !!"

"Never ever underestimate power of female gender ! #PVSindhu you have destroyed so many 'naysayers' .. you are the PRIDE of INDIA !" a second tweet read.

"I SALUTE YOU #PVSindhu. Those smashes could move mountains. WHAT AGRRESSION !!! Another Indian Woman creates history #goforgold #Rio2016," India's cricketing legend Kapil Dev said.

"Sakshi….Sindhu…. Dono ko Salaam!" actor Shah Rukh Khan tweeted.

Actor Aamir Khan said, "Way to go Sindhu! Congratulations! You have made India proud!!! All the very best for the finals. Love.a."

Cricketer Virender Sehwag said, "Sikh, Issai, Muslim,Hindu-Sab ka Dil Jeet gayi #PVSindhu #SportsUnitesPeopleBeyondReligion #IamProudSayItLoud"
