Eindhoven, Aug 8 (IBNS): Football squad PSV on Wednesday said it has strengthened their team with the signing of 26-year-old Trent Sainsbury on a free transfer from Chinese club Jiangsu Suning.

The defender signs a three-year deal, the club said in a statement.

Sainsbury returns to familiar territory: he made 27 league appearances for PEC Zwolle from  2014 to 2016. He left Zwolle to try his luck with Chinese club Jiangsu Suning and had spells on loan with Internazionale and Grasshoppers.

The Australian represented his country at various youth levels. He was a member of the Australia squad at the World Cup in Russia and worked under Australia coach Bert van Marwijk and the current PSV head coach Mark van Bommel. He has 38 caps to his name and scored three goals for Australia, the club said in a statement.
