Mitrabha wins bronze in Asian Youth

Kolkata, April 9 (IBNS)  Mitrabha brought laurels for India once again by winning Bronze at the Asian Youth chess Championship 2019 which concluded in Colombo,Sri Lanka a short while ago, according to Bengal Chess Association here Tuesday.

Mitrabha scored 6.5 points out of possible 9, just half a point behind the winner Abdimalik AbdiSalimov of Uzbekistan.

Seeded 5th on the starting rank, Mitrabha made a remarkable comeback after a shock defeat in the initial round against his compatriot Vatsal Singhania by winning his next three matches.

Earlier Mitrabha won Bronze in the Rapid Championship and Silver in the Blitz Championship. He thus achieves a rare feat of winning three medals in an Asian Championship. (EOM )
