London, July 20 (IBNS):  Leicestershire batsman Mark Cosgrove has extended its contract till 2020.

The 34-year-old has been outstanding in all competitions since making his Foxes debut in 2015; he is closing in on 6,000 runs for the club. Cosgrove becomes the second high-class batsman to commit his future to the club until at least the end of the 2020 season alongside Colin Ackermann, the club said in a statement.

Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “Cozzie [Mark Cosgrove] has been a talisman for the club, and we’re delighted that he and Ackers [Colin Ackermann] will continue to play key roles here.

“Cozzie’s run-scoring and overall record speaks for itself and he also has a huge influence in the dressing room with his insights on batting, and the game of cricket in general. It’s great that he has committed his future to the club.”
