London, June 8 (IBNS): British football club Leicester City on Friday said it has signed Jonny Evans.

The 30-year-old Northern Ireland international has signed a three-year contract at King Power Stadium and becomes the Foxes’ second summer signing after terms were agreed for Portuguese defender Ricardo Pereira, read the club website.

Evans has spent the last three years with West Brom and was appointed club captain at the beginning of last season.

The three-time Premier League-winning centre-back, who can also operate as a left-back, made his international debut for Northern Ireland in 2006, and has established an impressive reputation as a defender.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Evans said: “It’s great to join and I’m happy it’s all gone through. When this opportunity came up, it’s one that I couldn’t turn down. It’s an ambitious Club, the owners are ambitious and everyone wants to push the Club forward.

“I hope that I can give lots to the team and the Club. It’s a great place to play football, the fans really get behind the team and the players are fantastic - these are all factors that made me want to sign for this Football Club,” he said.
