Kolkata/IBNS: Kolkata Thunderbolts (KT) officially became a part of the upcoming Prime Valley League (PVL), a private volleyball tournament, on Saturday.

Joy Bhattacharjya, former Team director of Kolkata Knight Riders and the present CEO of PVL, said," Volleyball is not a resource based sport and people in rural and urban Bengal both love playing it."

This league is a major step in the right direction as the league owners are also the franchise owners, which makes players a priority, he said.

Pawan Patodia, Co-owner of Kolkata Thunderbolt, said, "Volleyball is the second highest played sport but the players are not getting recognition. We have collaborated with Sony TV to broadcast the sport so that the charm of the sport rises."

The jersey launch of the team also took place during the team's officiating ceremony.

Vineet Bhandari, Co-owner of KT, said, "Many young players will be motivated to take up the sport after watching international and national players play in prime form."
