Kolkata,/UNI: Former India's right handed opening batsman Wasim Jaffer has been picked up as the batting coach of IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab for seasons 2020.

Forty-one-year-old former Mumbai veteran cricketer Wasim Jaffar said “I’m thankful to Kumble. He’s the one who approached me. It was an honour to play under him for India. I’ve got so much to learn from him."

Former India captain Anil Kumble, who is the team’s Director of Cricket Operations of Kings XI Punjab, is said to have asked the former opening to come on board.

The 41-year-old still plays domestic cricket for Vidarbha but has coaching experience in Bangladesh.

The appointment of Jaffar was announced in the Kings" website.

Jaffar has played IPL just once, back in 2008, scoring 130 runs in eight matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
