Jofra Archer out of IPL 2020 with elbow fracture

| @indiablooms | Feb 06, 2020, at 07:10 pm

London/UNI:Jofra Archer on Thursday was ruled out of England's upcoming tour of Sri Lanka as well as the 2020 IPL season, due to a stress fracture in his right elbow.

Archer, who had picked the injury in the first Test against South Africa in Centurion, had missed the remaining three Tests in a series that England won 3-1.

"He underwent further scans on his injured right elbow on Wednesday in the UK which confirmed a low grade stress fracture," ECB said in a statement.

"Archer will now commence an injury rehabilitation programme with the ECB medical team with a view to be ready for the international summer campaign starting in June against the West Indies in a three-match Test series," it added.

The 24-year-old Barbados born pacer has represented England in seven Tests and 14 ODIs, taking 30 and 23 wickets respectively. He has also played a T20 International. Jofra is expected to be out of action for three months and his absence is a big blow to the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2020, beginning next month.

Rajasthan Royals franchise had retained him for this season but may now find themselves hunting for a replacement. Archer has played 21 picked IPL games and picked up 26 wickets at an average of 23.69.
