Indian PM Narendra Modi posts special message for victorious Indian cricket team

New Delhi, Jan 7 (IBNS): Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his men are earning appreciation from across India after they won the Test series in Australia for the first time in the history of the country but it was one man whose message that was really special for the sports icons.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who always encourages sportsmen for their achievement and regularly tweets when the country touches a glorious moment in the world of sports, described the victory on the Australia soil as a 'historic cricketing accomplishment'.

"A historic cricketing accomplishment in Australia! Congratulations to the Indian Cricket Team for the hard-fought and richly deserved series victory.

The series witnessed some memorable performances and solid teamwork.  Best wishes for the various games ahead," Modi tweeted.

India script victory:

India scripted their first Test series win in Australia on Monday.

The fourth Test match of the series was declared as a draw after the final day of the clash was washed out due to rains.

This is India's first Test series victory in Australia since they started touring the nation in 1947-48.
 
India won the current series 2-1.
