India women beat South Africa women in Cape Town, win series

Cape Town, Feb 24 (IBNS): Indian women's team defeated South African women's team in the fifth T20I match to clinch the series victory at the Newlands here on Saturday.

Losing the toss and batting first, India scored 166/4 in 20 overs.

Indian skipper Mithali Raj was brilliant with her bat as she contributed 62 runs from 50 balls.

Chasing a total of 167, South Africa were bowled out by the Indian bowlers at 112 runs in 18 overs.

Marizzane Kapp was the top scorer for the hosts with 27 runs.

Shikha Pandey, Rumeli Dhar and Rajeshwari Gayakwad shared three wickets each for India.

With this win, India won the T20I series by 3-1.
