India to host Afghanistan's first ever Test match

Mumbai, Dec 11 (IBNS): India will host Afghanistan's first ever Test match as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Monday.

The announcement has been made by BCCI's acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary.

Earlier it was decided that Afghanistan will play their first ever test match against Australia two years later.

Interacting with media, Choudhary said: "The General Body felt that in view of the history of the two nations, it should be India who must play the first Test match with Afghanistan."

"All of us happily agreed that must be the case" he added.

Afghanistan and Ireland were added as two new Test playing nations by International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2017.
