India defeat Australia by 137 runs in third Test match, lead series 2-1

Melbourne, Dec 30 (IBNS): Rain delayed the start of the match but Indian bowlers picked up the remaining two wickets to defeat Australia in the third Test of the series here on Sunday.

Australia were bowled out for 261 runs in the final day of the match as India took 2-1 lead in the series.

India needed just two wickets for victory and Australia had a tough challenge of scoring 141 runs with just 2 wickets in hands. Australia were posted a tough challenge of scoring 399 runs.

Pat Cummins (63), who was resisting the fall of the Australia batting lineup, was finally dismissed by Bumrah on Sunday morning to provide India early breakthrough.

Fast bowler Ishant Sharma (2/71) Fast bowler Ishant Sharma (2/71) took the final wicket of Lyon which wrapped up the proceedings.

Bumrah and Jadeja picked up three wickets each.

Australia added just three runs from their overnight score of 258 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
