India bowled out for 189, Australia score 40 at stumps

Bangalore, Mar 4 (IBNS): After putting up strong show and bowling out Indian side for 189 runs in the first innings, Australian batsmen played sensibly to finish the first day's play at 40 runs for the loss of no wickets here on Saturday.

David Warner (23*) and Matt Renshaw (15*) will resume proceedings on Sunday.

Indian bowlers failed to click at the end of the day after poor show by batsmen.

Nathan Lyon bowled best figures of taking eight wickets by giving away 50 runs to destroy the Indian batting lineup.

Except, KL Rahul (90), the rest of the Indian batsmen failed to shine in the match.

Abhinav Mukund, who had last featured in a Test match way back in 2011, failed to trouble the scorers.

Cheteshwar Pujara (17), VIrat Kohli (12) and Ajinkya Rahane (17) failed to deliver with their willows.
