India beat West Indies by 59 runs in rain-hit match, Virat Kohli shines with bat

Port of Spain, Aug 12 (UNI) Indian skipper Virat Kohli's brilliant century 120 and Bhuvneshwar Kumar 4 wicket spell helped India win against West Indies by 59 runs (D/L method) in the three-match series taking a 1-0 lead here on Sunday. 
 

In the second ODI India playing first scored a competitive 279/7 in the allotted 50 overs. In reply Windies target was revised to 270 runs in 46 overs due to rain, but the hosts were reduced to 210 runs in 42 overs.

Kohli was adjudged the Man of the Match for his stupendous century and three catches.

The Indian skipper won the toss and opted to bat. Kohli's 120 came off in 125 balls which included 14 fours and a six. This was Virat's 42nd century thus surpassing former captain Sourav Ganguly's 11363 runs and also became the 8th batsman to score 11406 runs in the ODIs.

Kohli along with Shreyas Iyer contributed 125 runs for fourth wicket taking the score to a competitive total. Shikhar Dhawan 2, Rohit Sharma 18, and Rishabh Pant lost his wicket at score 20, but with Iyer and Kohli's partnership, Iyer 71 came off in 68 balls with 5 fours and a six.

Kedar Jadhav was run out at 16 while Jadeja 16 and Shami 3 remained not out. For West Indies Brathwaite took 3/53.
