Ind-NZ: Virat scores second double ton, unbeaten partnership enters record books

Indore, Oct 9 (IBNS): Indian skipper and batting mainstay Virat Kohli scored his second Test double hundred, therefore becoming the first Indian Test captain to do so, here on Sunday, day two of the third test match against New Zealand.

At tea, India have put on 456 runs for the loss of three wickets

Virat had a slump in form ever since he scored his maiden Test double hundred in the Caribbean a few months ago.

The Indian skipper found ways to get out, but not so in this innings as a more determined strokeplay from the Delhi lad saw him bat a little less than nine hours at the crease.

Virat's 360-ball marathon innings, had just the eighteen fours and no over boundaries as compared to four maximum's from his deputy Ranahe's bat.

The duo have added a record breaking 356 runs, the highest by any Indian pair in Test cricket for the fourth wicket.

Rahane alone have scored 161 of those, facing 339 balls.

Virat also showed maturity in his celebrations, with just a gentle raise of the bat towards the gallery.

Both Virat and Rahane, who are batting at 206 and 161 respectively, will resume batting in the post tea session.
