Wriddhiman Saha, who starred in a rearguard with Rohit Sharma (82) after India's dramatic collapse, scored his second half century of the match.
Saha (58), who remained unbeaten in the first innings, replicated his feat.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (23) played the perfect foil to Saha's defiant innings.
Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry and Trent Boult each picked up 3 wickets, while Neil Wagner accounted for a wicket.
