Important for me to play at any positions where my team demands: Dhoni

Melbourne, Jan 18 (IBNS): After winning the third match to clinch the ODI series singlehandedly, MS Dhoni, who also grabbed the player of the tournament award, said it is important for him to play in whichever position the team demands him to perform.

Dhoni played a pivotal role in all the three ODI matches of the series.

Though he was attacked by critics, Dhoni proved them wrong as he guided the visitors to victory in remaining ODIs under the tough situation to bring home another title for India.

"It was a slow wicket, so it was difficult to hit whenever you wanted to. It was important to take it deep. No point going after the bowlers who are doing well, so that was the gameplan, of course supported brilliantly by Kedar, who plays unorthodox shots," Dhoni said at the post-match ceremony.

"Whether I play at 4 or 6, we need to see if the team balance can be retained. Important thing is for me to bat where the team needs, I'm happy to bat lower down at 6," he said.

Dhoni remained unbeaten in both the matches.

In the third match, Dhoni scored unbeaten 87 runs.

India won the ODI bilateral series for the first time on Australia soil.
