Rio de Janeiro, July 27 (IBNS): Brazilian club Palmeiras on Friday said it has appointed former Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari as its coach.

He has signed a contract with the club till 2020.

"He signed a contract with the club until 2020," read the club website.

He will replace Roger Machado.

This will be the third time association of Scolari with the nine-time Serie A champions.

"It will be the third step of the coach in charge of the Palmeiras team - the others happened from 1997 to 2000 and from 2010 to 2012," the club said.
