England sack assistant coach Graham Thorpe

London/UNI: England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday sacked Graham Thorpe as men's assistant coach after the team's Ashes debacle.

England lost the Ashes series 0-4 to Australia.

"I've been very fortunate to have worked with so many good players and coaches who I consider my friends for life," said Thorpe.

Andrew Strauss, Interim Managing Director of England Men's Cricket, said: "I'd like to thank Graham for his work over many years on the England coaching staff and wish him the best for the future."

The board will announce the arrangements for the West Indies tour in due course.

Earlier, head coach Chris Silverwood and Managing Director Ashley Giles were removed from their positions as post-Ashes cleanup continues.
