Bhuvneshwar Kumar picks up five wickets, NZ struggle at 128-7

Kolkata, Oct 1 (IBNS): India's Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled brilliantly as he picked up five wickets to make New Zealand struggle at 128 for seven at the end of the second day of the second Test match of the series here on Saturday.

It was Kumar, who showed his charisma with the ball and displayed a strong performance on ground, to keep New Zealand in the back foot.

BJ Watling (12*) and Jeetan Patel (5*) will resume proceedings for he visitors on Sunday.

Apart from Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja picked up a wicket each.

Ross Taylor (36) and Luke Ronchi (35) tried to give some resistance to the opponents but Jadeja and Kumar picked up their wickets at quick intervals to leave New Zealand in a tough position.

In a rain-interrupted day, New Zealand top order were left badly hit as three batsmen- Martin Guptill (13), Tom Latham (1) and Henry Nicholls (1)-perished early as the scorecard read 23-3.

Earlier, India were bowled out for 316 runs.

Cheteshwar Pujara (87), Ajinkya Rahane (77) and local lad Wriddhiman Saha (54 no) remained the top scorers for the side.

Matt Henry picked up three wickets for New Zealand.
