Australian spinners script massive victory against India

Pune, Feb 25 (IBNS): Australia commenced their Indian tour with a bang as they defeated the home side by 333 runs in the first Test here on Saturday.

Indian team's supporters received a shock when their opponents knocked them off the field in just three days.

Australian spinners Steve O'Keefe and Nathan Lyon scripted a memorable victory as they took six and four wickets each to register the win.

Apart from Cheteshwar Pujara (31), the rest of the batting line-up, including skipper Virat Kohli (13), departed without making any significant mark to save the game for India. India were bowled out for 107.

Australia took 1-0 lead in the series with the victory.

The defeat came as a shock for the Indian side specially after they scripted series victories against Bangladesh and England in recent times.

Earlier, Australian innings was packed up for 285 runs in their second innings.Steve Smith  scored 109 runs.

This was Australia's first win in India after 2004.

India have not lost a home series since 2012.

The second Test match of the series commences from Mar 4.
