Andy Murray receives knighthood

London, Dec 31 (IBNS): Tennis superstar Andy Murray has been knighted for his services to the game, media reports said.

Murray recently overtook arch rival Novak Djokovic as the world number one Men's singles player.

He had also won an Olympic Gold medal for Great Britain in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Others to have received knighthood alongside Murray are Olympic Gold medallist Mo Farah.

Paralympic dressage rider Lee Pearson's name was also present in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

Among the women, heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill and rower Katherine Grainger are made dames.
