Want to do non-masala type characters as well : Jeet

Kolkata, Oct 5 (IBNS) Discounting any similarity with the 70s' hit Abhimaan starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri, Tollywood megastar Jeet says the upcoming Bengali film has no similarities with the Hrishikesh Mukherjee classic.

"This is a mainstream, commercial, glossy film, beautifully made having no similarities with the previous Hindi one. But since it talks about relationships the film touches on soul," the 'Dui Prithivi' actor tells IBNS about his upcoming Puja release Abhimaan.

Jeet, who wants to do all types of roles, says while he had been doing one particular genre of films (read masala movies packed with action, romance), he wants to do realistic genre as well.

However, he requests to change the topic when asked the reason behind opting out of Srijit Mukherjee's Zulfiqar as rumoured (please leave out this subject - Jeet says).

Coming back to Abhimaan, Jeet says the word connotes certain type of human emotions which is typical of Indians as there is no English synonym of this word.

Jeet, who is working with Raj Chakraborty in Abhimaan, after a gap of three years (after Mafia in 2013, Shatru in 2011) and Dui Prithibi in 2010) says, "Like my chemistry with Subhasree I have a good working relationship with Raj though we could not work for few years and it did not have any specific reason."

On six Bengali films getting released in this Durga Puja, Jeet says, "With cinema halls sharing different films and the audience's choice getting split, perhaps this may have an impact."

However, Subhasree looking at the issue differently, says, "she sees the release of so many films as a positive development. Since each and every film has it's own audience and own space."

On being paired with two heroes in two different films releasing this puja (including Abhimaan) , Subhasree says, "My vibes and chemistry with Jeet increased with every passing film (Pitribhumi, Boss, Game and so on) while I had tried to make Om comfortable in my second film other than Abhimaan which is also awaiting release."

Produced by Jeet's Grassroot Abhimaan will be released on Mahashasthi day of Durga Puja.
