Mainak Bhaumik launches 'Take One'

Kolkata, Apr 9 (IBNS): Filmmaker Mainak Bhaumik on Tuesday launched his movie 'Take One', billed as a bold film that celebrates beauty in the raw reality of a real woman.
Present at the launch was actress Swastika Mukherjee along with co-actors Rahul and Arindam Sil.

'Take One' strongly endorses the major social issue of 'Gender Equality', with the hope of exposing and banishing conservative society's tendency to have double standards when it comes to their unfair judgement of women, said the filmmmaker.

In the film, the character played by Swastika, is of Doel Mitra, who is an Indian actress.

While she was shooting overnight, some bold sex scenes of her film is leaked on the internet. Belonging from a conservative Indian Bengali family, she had to face a lot of verbal abuse and ostracism while society perhaps would not have batted an eyelid if it were a male actor at her place.

"Essentially the film is a journey of a woman with the help of a journalist. My film holds a mirror of the society. I tried to make a film based on reel life stories, but ultimately it turned out to be a real life story of Swastika. I truly believe that the audience will enjoy this film," said Mainak Bhaumik.

Lead protagonist Swastika said, "I have tried to portray a true self of me on screen. I want my audience to watch the film for whatever reason it may be. The film is very challenging for me but I got a lot of support from my daughter and Mainak."

Swastika's daughter, Anwesha played an important role in the film. In the film also, she plays the role of Swastika's daughter.

Rahul and Shreyoshi, with their performances added an extra glamour to the film, claimed the filmmaker.

The film hits the theatre on Apr 14.
