Amitabh Bachchan cheers team 'Raktabeej' ahead of mega Durga Puja release

Kolkata/IBNS: Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan on Monday cheered the entire team of 'Raktabeej' ahead of the mega release of the Bengali film, which is directed by filmmaker duo Nandita Roy-Shiboprosad Mukherjee.

Sharing the trailer of 'Raktabeej' on X, Bachchan said, "All best wishes .."

The film, which is produced by Windows Production, features Victor Banerjee, Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty in the lead.

Sharing Bachchan's post, Abir said, "Thank you Sir. Means a lot @SrBachchan."

Mimi, who plays a cop in the film, shared Bachchan's post saying, "Coming from the Legend himself, I am out of words.Thank you sir."

'Raktabeej' trailer out now

The trailer- spanning 2:30 minutes- shows Abir as an investigator on behalf of a central team while Mimi is seen in a never-seen-before look as the Superintendent of Police (SP), Burdwan.

Abir and Mimi, who are named Pankaj Sinha and Sanjukta Mitra respectively in the film directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, are on a duty to investigate a blast in West Bengal's 'Khoyragarh'.

Victor Banerjee as Animesh Chatterjee plays the President of India, who returns to his village for the first time since assuming the top post.

Though the makers haven't revealed much, the look and instances provide ample suggestions that Banerjee is modelled after India's former President late Pranab Mukherjee, who is the first and only Bengali to assume the top post.

Though initially the trailer shows Pankaj Sinha and Sanjukta Mitra locking horns over the probe, they later seem to accommodate each other for the "mission".

More details about the film

Apart from Victor Banerjee, Abir and Mimi, the film features Anashua Majumdar, Satyam Bhattacharya, Devlina Kumar in pivotal roles.

Inspired by the Burdwan blast in 2014, which shook up Bengal and also the nation, the film is about the homecoming of a man, who holds an important portfolio, and how an accidental blast in a firecracker unit unveils a bigger threat to his life.

On October 2, 2014, which coincided with Mahashtami that year, an explosion took place in a two-storeyed building in the Khagragarh locality of Burdwan. Locals informed the police, who sprang into immediate action.

When the police arrived, two women inside the building stopped them from entering, threatening to blow up the building and destroy several documents and evidence. They were arrested and the police recovered more than 50 improvised explosive devices in that house.

'Raktabeej', which is produced by Windows Production, is slated to release in Bengali, Odia, Assamese and Hindi languages on October 19 on the occasion of Durga Puja.
