China: 11 die after bus rams crowd of students in Shandong Province

A bus ran into a crowd of students in China's  Shandong Province on Tuesday which left at least 11 people dead and 13 others injured, media reports said.

The incident reportedly occurred at the gate of a school.

The accident occurred at 7:27 a.m. when the rental bus for transporting students "lost control" and crashed into pedestrians on the roadside, the police told Xinhua news agency.

One of the injured persons remains in critical condition.

The condition of other patients is said to be stable.

The bus driver has been detained.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
