Yuvraj Singh joins Sourav Ganguly at Delhi Capitals with one big IPL 2027 mission

New Delhi/IBNS: Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has joined Delhi Capitals as an assistant and batting coach ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season.

Yuvraj, renowned for his power-hitting in ODIs and T20Is, will work alongside cricket legend Sourav Ganguly, who has been appointed head coach of the franchise.

The World Cup winner, who represented Capitals in 2015, said he and Ganguly would aim to help the franchise win their maiden IPL title after years of underwhelming performances.

“We want to qualify first, but the reason Sourav and I are here is that we want to win the championship,” Yuvraj said.

“We are going to try and build a squad that is prepared to fight and take on any opposition in any situation,” he added.

Delhi Capitals' recent struggles

Delhi Capitals have experienced an inconsistent run in recent IPL seasons.

The team missed the playoffs in both 2025 and 2026, despite winning seven matches in each campaign.

Delhi's best IPL performance remains their runners-up finish in 2020, when they reached the final for the first time.

With no IPL title to their name and only one final appearance, the franchise will now look to Ganguly to help build a team capable of mounting a stronger title challenge.
