Sonia Gandhi may not attend ED summon

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who tested positive for Covid last week, is unlikely to attend the Enforcement Directorate summon on Wednesday in connection with the National Herald case, sources said.

Summons were issued against Sonia Gandhi and son Rahul Gandhi last week and later Congress chief tested positive.

The Congress chief is yet to get a Covid negative report and has not fully recovered, the sources said, adding that the ED will be approached to seek another date for questioning.

Sonia Gandhi was asked to appear before the enforcement agency on June 8 in relation to the National Herald case.

Last week, while announcing that the Congress President had tested positive for Covid, Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala had said she would attend the summon.

Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has also contracted Covid.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was asked to appear on June 13. He had earlier been asked to appear on June 5, but it was rescheduled as he was out of the country.
